Hotel Lunetta

Rome is one of those cities that breathes history. Rome always transports me back to the Roman empire. The founding of Rome goes back to the very early days of civilization. It is so old; it is known today as ‘the eternal city’. The Romans believed that their city was founded in the year 753 BC. Modern historians believe it was the year 625 BC.

Hotel Lunetta in Rome is considered the second oldest hotel in Rome. It dates back to the 14th century. It used to be a pilgrims hostel in 1382 and it has been a hostel/hotel ever since. Until 2007 it was a two-star hotel with just all the basics. Now it has up to 30 rooms, a spa with indoor pool and 4 wellness cabins for treatments. One of them designed for couples to enjoy a massage right next to each other and relax a jacuzzi afterwards.

The location of the hotel couldn’t be any better. It is walking distance from the Colosseum and the main tourist sights of Rome. Besides this good location the service is impeccable. No matter what person you get in front of you they are all well trained and professional. The general manager even took us around the block to go look for batteries for our microphone. That is customer service to the core. They really care about their clients and that is what we look for in every hotel that we stay at. That and of course that they have an interesting story or special theme.

The interesting story about Hotel Lunetta in Rome is located right under the hotel. Down in the basement they have a spa with ancient walls that are older than the Colosseum. That means you can relax between old stones and get the well-deserved rest that you needed after hours of exploring this beautiful city. Not only the walls in the spa area are amazing but the whole décor of Hotel Lunetta is wonderful. A lot of effort goes into the details at this hotel.

The 30 rooms all have an amazing bathroom. As a woman I love to have daylight when I am doing my make-up and a lot of the rooms in Hotel Lunetta have natural daylight and a make-up mirror. Besides that, we had a shower and a bath in our suite. If the suite is still available, we recommend getting it. You will have your own private terrace overlooking the basilica that is close to the hotel.

If all of this haven’t got you booking a city trip to Rome let’s just say that Hotel Lunetta is an oasis of tranquility in the vibrant city that is Rome. Book your room in Hotel Lunetta Rome here.
