As hotels all over the world prepare for the new normal for travel and hospitality, Hyatt announces its Global Care & Cleanliness Commitment to the public last April 29, 2020.
In the hotel giant’s report, they listed down the ways they plan to sanitize properties and practice social distancing—with their previous cleanliness guidelines as a basis.
Here are the ways they plan to up their game when it comes to the safety of hotel staff and guests:
Global Cleanliness Accreditation
Hyatt Hotels Corporation is on its way to introducing the GBAC STARTM accreditation, which prioritizes performance-based cleaning, disinfection and infectious disease prevention to establish sanitary and safe hotel surroundings.
GBAC is a part of ISSA, a worldwide cleaning organization composed of health leaders specialized in dealing with biological threats. This initiative will also include an in-depth training of staff from more than 900 of the Hyatt’s hotels worldwide.
Appointing sanitization specialists
New work procedures and training are continuously being conducted for the health and safety of Hyatt staff. One change the hotel giant plan to introduce is the appointment of a Hygiene Manager per hotel by September 2020.
This individual will be tasked to oversee hotel sanitation protocols. This will include the implementation of social distancing guidelines, placement of hand sanitizer stations in hotels, and the allocation of protective equipment for the staff among other responsibilities.
Hyatt will also start conducting daily surveys to gauge the comfort and safety of its hotel workers.
Partnership with health experts
When the pandemic first started, Hyatt was already able to assemble a global cross-functional response team. The hotel sought counsel from infectious diseases health experts in order to enact and continuously update cleanliness protocols.
They continue with this practice, even adding more to their roster of experts from fields such as technology, colleague safety, and food & beverage safety.
“Hyatt’s Global Care & Cleanliness Commitment is an important expression of our purpose to care for people so they can be their best – now and in the future,” said Mark Hoplamazian, president and CEO of Hyatt Hotels Corporation.
