Hilton Partners with Lysol founders & Mayo Clinic to Upgrade Hygiene Practices

Hilton Hotels, in partnership with Mayo Clinic and RB (known for brands like Lysol and Dettol) will be introducing a new health and cleanliness standard for all properties in the world.

The Hilton Cleanstay program will be launched in June 2020 and will have both of RB’s scientific approach to cleaning and input from the experts of Mayo Clinic’s Infection Prevention and Control department.

The Cleanstay program is Hilton’s response to consumers’ increased concerns of overall cleanliness standards of the hotel industry—an expectation brought forth by the Coronavirus pandemic.

“Hilton CleanStay builds on the best practices and protocols we’ve developed over the last several months, allowing our guests to rest easy with us and focus on enjoying the unforgettable experiences we have to offer while protecting our Team Members who are on the front lines of hospitality,” said Christopher J. Nassetta, President and CEO of Hilton.

While the program is continuously being developed, this new rigorous cleaning system considers to implement the following:

Implementation of the Hilton CleanStay Room Seal

Guests will find a room seal on their doors as an assurance that the room hasn’t been accessed since being thoroughly cleaned.

Prioritizing High-Touch, Deep Clean Areas

Most frequently touched guests room areas such as light switches, door handles, TV remotes, thermostats and more will undergo extensive disinfection processes.

Declutter Paper Amenities

Pen, paper, and guest directory will all be removed unless specifically requested by the guest. All hotels will be supplemented with digital alternatives.

Improved Guidelines for Cleaning Fitness Centers

Hilton considers possibly closing gyms and fitness centers multiple times daily and limiting the number of guests allowed in at one time.

Multiple Cleaning Times

Hilton plans to increase the frequency of cleaning public areas.

Disinfecting Wipes Easily Accessible for Guests

Stations will be placed in primary entrances and key high traffic areas. For instance, guests will find a station where they’ll be able to wipe the elevator button before pressing.

Contactless Check-In

Hilton will be more aggressive in implementing its Digital Key technology for guests who want contactless arrival experience. Guests will be able to check-in, choose, and access their room with a digital room key. They can also check-out using their mobile phones through the Hilton Honors mobile app.

Hilton will expand its Digital Key capabilities to common doors and access points throughout properties worldwide.

Innovative Disinfection Technologies

Addition of new technologies, such as electrostatic sprayers and ultraviolet light to sanitize surfaces and objects are under consideration.

Hotel staff and members will also be provided full protective gear every time they sanitize hotel rooms and amenities. They will also undergo additional and enhanced training for their own safety and health.
