Aswan

Located in the southern part of Egypt is Aswan, one of the country’s major cities nestled near the Nile River. Aswan may not be as large or as popular as Cairo but it’s often the go-to starting point of Egyptian tours and excursions. 

It is said to be Egypt’s most tranquil town so it’s ideal for those who wish to travel the country at a relaxed pace.

White Desert

What to see in Egypt when you want to witness something one-of-a-kind? The White Desert National Park. It’s something that you wouldn’t expect when you think of the word desert.

Alexandria

Alexandria is Egypt’s second-largest city and was used to be considered the crossroad of the world in ancient Egypt. It’s the leading seaport in the country and was founded by historical figure Alexander the Great.

Nile Cruising from Luxor

Not exactly a “what to see in Egypt” and more of a must-do. Another well-known site other than the Pyramids of Giza, Egypt’s Nile River has been one of the country’s main transportation since ancient times. Today, a river cruise is possible as many offer a ride from Luxor to Aswan.

St. Catherine’s Monastery

This is one of the oldest monasteries in the world and it’s situated at the foot of Mount Sinai. This desert museum offers arts and manuscripts if you want a taste of Egypt’s history with religion.

 It’s also a great destination for adventurous travelers as you’ll either need to hike or ride a camel to see the monastery.

Valley of the Kings

True to its name, this Egyptian valley is a burial site for the country’s royalty such as Tutankhamun, Seti I, and Ramses II to name a few. More than being a piece of the country’s history, it also gives visitors some insight into the burial rites of ancient Egyptians. 

There are 60 tombs in the Valley of the Kings, some of them having hundreds of underground chambers.
