A 20 minute drive from the centre of Krabi, Thailand, hidden away from tourists and distraction lies a hotel that with some of the best views Phang Nga Bay. The bay has been the location of James Bond movie The man with the golden gun and Ritz Carlton reserve Phulay Bay has been one of the main filming locations of the Hangover 2 movie. And for a good reason.

Every guest will be allocated a butler that you can call during your stay. Whether it is to get directions or information, drive you around the resort help you pack/unpack or to get you your favorite snack. You could also ask them to drive you to anywhere you want. The rates are very similar to local taxi fares for short distances but you will be driven around in a much more luxurious car with massaging seats. We highly recommend making use of the hotels car service.

The Rooms

Ritz Carlton Reserve Phulay Bay offers pavilions and villas. All rooms and villas are decorated in traditional Taiwanese style and are spacious. The smallest pavilion is 1162 sqft / 108 sqm. The villas start at 3788 sqft / 352 sqm. Plenty of space. All the villas come with their own private pool. The pool villas and royal villas also include 1 or 2 indoor and outdoor bathtubs. The tubs are made from stone and provide you with a feel of tranquility and peace. They are large enough for a whole family to enjoy the warm water.

The Pool villas have a unique feature that you will find in very few hotels around the world. A bed that is 12 feet / 3.6 meters wide. Yes that is double of king size bed. It is perfect for pillow fights with the family or your spouse.

Each room is slightly different with hand painted wall elements and doors. Each room feels totally different and highlights a different aspect of the Thai culture.

F&B

With not many restaurants nearby you will likely eat at the hotel a couple of times. For hotel with so few rooms, it has a surprising variety of restaurants. 3 fine dining restaurant, 1 pool bar and 1 cocktail bar. The cocktail bar is situated on the edge of the water with incredible views and sunsets. A great place to spend some time in the early evening hours. The 3 restaurants each have their own specialty. Jampoon offers western and Mediterranean style food, Lae Lay is a seafood restaurant and Sri Trang is traditional Thai.

Besides the restaurants there is a variety of food experiences that you can choose from if you would like to create a special moment for you and your loved one.

Activities

During the day Ritz Carlton Phulay Bay offers a multitude of experiences, of which some are free. 2 of their key activities are a boat trip early morning to one of the most beautiful islands in the bay for a relaxing morning on a remote beach and a hike to Naga Mountain. Thai massage courses, yoga and movie night are amongst the possibilities. Can you guess which 2 movies are shown? On the property itself you could relax at the pool with views of the bay and great sunsets, play football or chill on of the hammocks or swings that are great for social media pictures.

The Spa

In need for a few relaxing hours. Ritz Carlton Reserve Phulay Bay has one of the most tranquil spas in the Krabi Area. Not only are the treatments incredible, it is what awaits you after that really makes the difference. Views on natures wonders while you relax in the hot tub. There are a few spa activities that are worth giving a try such as the Thai Massage course. Great to surprise a loved one.

Overall Ritz Carlton Phulay Bay offers more than enough for a couple of days of relaxation and recharge your battery. Our favorite villa is the pool villa. Ask for one that has a bath tub in a tower. A little extra that not all of them have. Note that Ritz Carlton Phulay Bay does not take part in the Marriott Bonvoy Program.
