For starters I knew nothing at all of this city. During our stay in Dinant we actually decided to come here. In Han-sur-Lesse you can find the domain of the caves of Han. You probably know the advertising. This village has 3 hotels and a handful of restaurants/bars.
Hotel Grenier des Grottes:
This hotel has a free parking and a spa available. So we thought that we were able to warm up in the sauna after a winter walk. Unfortunately, the spa was not as extensive. Half of the equipment was broken or unable to use. A positive point of the hotel is the location. The hotel is located across the entrance of to the domain ‘the caves of Han’. The breakfast was good. We also had diner in the restaurant of the hotel. The service here was a bit disappointing, but the food (vegetarian wok) was okay. The rooms are spacious and there is a lot of light. The bathroom is rather outdated.
Han-sur-Lesse is a small town on the border of the Ardennes. It’s great if you love nature walks. The pure air, the typical houses, the breathtaking landscape, … The environment here is gorgeous!
Domain ‘Caves of Han’:
We recently visited a cave in Dinant and so we decided to only visit the wildlife park. A ticket cost around 16 euros for only the entrance of the park. The tour starts with a Safari-car towards the park. The typical song of the domain will get your attention right away. You can visit the park completely with the safari-car or you can opt for a walk around the park. The walk is about 5 km long. Of course we went for the walk, because this way you can explore nature at your own pace. You’ll find animals from this region here in their natural environment: wolves, Lynx, deer and bears. Even endangered species such as the European bison and Przewalski horse are possible to find here. From a certain point, we took the safari-car again, but in the summer period it is possible to explore the whole park on foot.
